Serbian mezzosoprano Sanja Anastasia studied at the University of Music and performing Arts in Graz and Vienna, Austria. She was a prize winner of several international singing competitions such as Jeunesse Musicales in Belgrad, Enrico Caruso in Milano, Vincenzo Bellini in Caltanisetta, Italiy, Schloß Rheinsberg in Germany.
Numerous following engagement brought Mrs. Anastasia all over Europe and Balkan Peninsula, through Turkey, South Afrika, Republic of South Korea and Japan.
From 2011 to 2013 Mrs. Anastasia was a member of State Theater Mainz where she sung LUCRETIA in The Rape of Lucretia, ULRICA in Un Ballo in Maschera, MESCALINA in Le Grand Macabre, KLYTÄMNESTRA in Elektra, ELECRTESS in The Prinz of Homburg (CD recording and live radio broadcast) and OLGA in Eugen Onegin.
Notable past engagements include ULRICA at Theater Basel, Bern, Magdeburg, Würzburg, Karlsruhe and Sarajevo, JUDITH in Bluebard’s Castel (german version) at Theater Bremerhaven and State Theater Bremen, LARINA in Eugen Onegin at State Theater Saarbrücken and Theater Basel, LA PRINCIPESSA at Theater Como, and State Theater Karlsruhe, EBOLI at Theater Lübeck, Aachen, Belgrade National Theater, Sofia Opera and Ballett Theater, State Opera Stara Zagora as well as AMNERIS at Theater Pisa, Livorno, Rovigo, Novara, State Theater in Tbilisi, Theatre Astra in Malta, openair Festival Gars am Kamp in Austria, La Perla Festival, Pfäffikon in Switzerland and Forest National in Brüssel, as well as CARMEN at Theater Sabadell, Leida, Reus in Spain, State Opera Ruse and Stara Zagora - Bulgaria, Theater Aachen, on Aspendos Openair Festival in the Turkey, Mozart Festival in Pravetz, Bulgaria and Dionysos Festival in Corfu, Greece.
Her notable participation in the production of AIDA at Theater Coccia in Novara 2016 in the role of Amneris was recorded and broadcasted for Classica TV Italia (DVD available).
Since 2013 Mrs. Anastasia performs regularly with big success on the well known ARENA DI VERONA Festival where she was prized as FENENA in Nabucco (with Placido Domingo), FLORA in La Traviata, GERTRUDE in Romeo and Juliette as well as AMNERIS in Aida, ULRICA in Un Ballo in Maschera and in a title role of wold famous opera CARMEN.
She guest appeared also in Volksopera Vienna, Cape Town Opera, Brašov Opera, Košice Opera, National Theater Sarajevo, National Theater Maribor, Theater Aachen, Theater Erfurt, National Theater Belgrade, Theater Magdeburg, Theaters of Catalania, State Theater Prag in Salzburg, on tour in Japan with Vienna Opera Ensemble, performances in Seoul Arts Center and Busan, South Korea.
On the concert stage Mrs. Anastasia has worked with Belgrade Philharmony and Radio Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmony and Radio Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmony, Brandenburg Philharmony, Moscow Philharmony, Cape Town Philharmony and Orchestra Fondazione Arena di Verona. She sung Verdi’s Requiem with Symphony Orchestra of Theater Würzburg in Germany and at Theater Wielki in Lodz in Poland and also gave concerts with Verona Lirica at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Italy. Many of her concert and opera apearences are live recorded and broadcasted on TV.
Recently Mrs. Anastasia was to be heard as ULRICA in Ballo in Maschera at Landestheater Innsbruck, LA PRINCIPESSA in Adriana Lecouvreuer on State Theater Karlsruhe in Germany and as AMNERIS in Aida with State Opera Varna in Brüssel.
Her current engagements include the title role in CARMEN at the National Theater Russe and Stara Zagora in Bulgaria as well as AMNERIS with Cairo State Opera in Egypt, and on tour in Japan with Tokio National Orchestra. With a concert gala “Stars of Arena” Mrs. Anastasia will have her debut at the Alte Oper Frankfurt in February this year.
